Overview

The Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek provides the most varied trekking experience of the major 8,000 m peak trekking in Nepal. Straddling the border with Sikkim, Kanchenjunga at 8,586 m is the world's third-highest mountain, while its base camp trekking, also known as KBC Trekking, is only for off-the-beaten adventurous trekkers. This world's third-highest mountain has a tremendous mass with 5 major peaks and ridges. This 5 ridge creates five different icy mass glaciers radiating away from the main ridge of Kanchenjunga.

The local ancient people around here considered Kanchenjunga Peak a sacred mountain. Even this is mentioned in their lots of traditional festivals and rituals. Being standing in between Nepal, India, and Tibet (China), the Tibetan name Kang Chen Dzo Nga is being used in many local habitats and religious ceremonies. This Tibetan name matches its physical presence, which linearly means The Five Treasuries of the Great Snows. Mt Joseph Hooker from Great Britain was the first person to explore this Kanchenjunga Trekking area. He spent lots of time around this mighty mountain to collect data for his research between 1848 and 1849. He was a botanical scientist.

Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek | KBC Trekking

Before Nepal opened its borders to the outside world in 1950, Kanchenjunga was probably the best-known of all the higher Nepalese Mountains. It comes to the British high-profile officials of the East India Company, who are the best in Kolkata and Sikkim. The base of Kanchenjunga on the eastern side belongs to Sikkim and is the best summer holiday destination.

It was not until 1988 that the public again took an interest in this area of Nepal. Since then, this trail to the base of the world's third-highest mountain has been getting popular day by day, but only for adventure seekers. Nowadays this is one of the most popular off-the-beaten trekking trails. If you are in need of real adventure trekking in Nepal, come and join Trekking Trail Nepal for the Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek, aka KBC Trekking.

KBC Trekking is an off-the-beaten-path trek to the base camp of the third-highest mountains in the world, Mt. Kanchenjunga.

Passing through sparsely populated areas, this trek provides a great sense of freedom and independence. The KBC Trekking trails are not well defined, and there is little chance to restock along the way, as trekking facilities are still very primitive. Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek / KBC Trekking in this area must be far more self-sufficient than on most trekking routes in Nepal.
