About Chitwan National Park Activities

Chitwan National Park is one of the largest national parks of Nepal, which is located in the southwestern part of Nepal covering an area of 932 square kilometers. Chitwan National Park is famous for jungle safari providing the chance to see leopards, sloth bear, wild elephants, white-footed gaur, wild boar, different species of deer including sambar, hog, barking, spotted, etc. It is also the habitat of one-horned rhinoceros and rare Royal Bengal tiger. Also, the swampy areas and lakes provide the home for marsh crocodiles and numerous species of birds.

Chitwan National Park has different local communities of "Tharu" with unique culture and customs. These people are the aboriginals of this area.  In 1985, the first Elephant breeding center in Asia was established in the Chitwan National Park. This center is owned by government mainly to raise the young elephants and to train the elephants.
