The Royal Trek is a short, convenient and peaceful trek for those who lack the time and do not want strenuous hikes. This Royal Trek is famous and named after Prince Charles of Wales, with his camping team and employees, who had once hiked via this route during his visit to Nepal in 1980. This Royal Trek gives us the opportunity to explore the local villages and to view the awesome mountains. The trails of Royal Trek follow a shrub-like path along the foothills of Annapurna range lying to the north of the Pokhara valley. The journey of the Royal Trek starts from the Pokhara city and then ends at the amazing Begnas lake which lies about 22 km to the west of Pokhara.

The Royal Trek passes through the Gurung settlements with unique traditional lifestyle and the customs. The Gurungs are well famous as “the almighty British Gurkha army” in the world. Hence, this is the easy and short trek starting from Pokhara letting you the opportunity of significant cultural exploration and also a historical immersion of the ancient tradition of sending a member of the family to the British Gurkha troops. This Royal Trek overall covers the journey beginning through the beautiful lakeside town of Pokhara valley and offering the real picture of the serene nature with eloquent terraces, the dense forests of Magnolia and Rhododendron and the varieties of species of plants and animals.

In comparison to the other treks, the Royal Trek is less congested which helps the trekkers to get closer and better view of the Annapurna region and the living style of the local Gurung communities. The Royal trek does not need necessarily any trekking experience. One should be physically enduring to walk for about 4 – 6 hours every day. It is usually a 12-days trek preferable for those who wanted a close view of the Annapurna region with the relaxing trip and those who have the short time but wanted to explore an adventurous trek.
