The North Annapurna Base Camp Trek is an exciting alternative to the popular Annapurna Base Camp Trek, offering a more secluded and adventurous experience in Nepal Annapurna region. This trek, first explored by Maurice Herzog's French Expedition team, has gained popularity in recent years. Nestled in a remote area, this hidden Himalayan paradise promises a unique adventure, showcasing some of the most breathtaking snow-capped peaks, including Annapurna I, Nilgiri, Fishtail (Machhapuchhre), Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, Tilicho, Pisang, and more. Located at an altitude of 4,190 metres within the Annapurna Conservation Area, North Annapurna Base Camp sits north of the Annapurna Base Camp and south of Thorong La Pass. In another words this Annapurna Base Camp Trek is different from this classical ABC Trek.
The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Tatopani. After an overnight stay in Tatopani, the trek starts, leading you from Tatopani to Ghasa. You will traverse winding trails, enchanting woods, sparkling rivers, waterfalls, lush rhododendron forests, terraced farms, meadows, and picturesque villages.
From Ghasa, the trek continues towards Lete, a beautiful village surrounded by the Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Annapurna ranges. The journey then leads to Thulo Bugin, where you will camp on the banks of Miristi Khola, a river flowing into the Kali Gandaki.
The next day, trek the rugged trails towards Annapurna North Base Camp, crossing the river and navigating off-the-beaten-path terrain to reach the pristine base camp and experience the wonders of nature.
Alternatively, a shorter, less adventurous route starts from Narchyang, accessible after a 5-7 hour drive from Pokhara, depending on road conditions. This moderate camping trek is typically completed within 8-9 days. Despite being less explored, it is safe and offers high potential for adventure.Major Attractions of the Annapurna North Base Camp Trek
