Royal Chitwan National | No Elephant Safari

Situated 120 Kms south-west of Kathmandu, Royal Chitwan National Park offers protection to a large array of mammals as well as over 400 species of birds. It is famous for the Royal Chitwan National Park, the first national park of the Kingdom, located in the foothills of Churi ranges. Chitwan National Park is one of Nepal largest tropical forest with a wide range of wildlife. The rare one horned rhinoceros and exclusive royal Bengal tiger. Furthermore, sloth bear, leopard, wild boar, many species of deer including barking dear, crocodiles and gharial and fresh water dolphin have common home that we all call Chitwan National Park.

Chitwan National Park Safari - Best Wildlife Activities

Chitwan National Park covers an area of 932sq km and includes hilly areas of Siwalik range covered by forest. The swampy area and numerous lakes of Chitwan are home for marsh crocodiles and in a stretch of the Narayani River is found one of the few remaining populations of the rare and the endangered gharial (gangetic crocodile). Also four species of water dolphins are found here.

Chitwan National Park is also paradise for bird watching. Several breed of wood pecker birds, Asian Bustard known as florican, hornbills, red head trons. The winter migrated birds, such as Pintails, Anser indicus water fowl and Ruddy Shel Duck among many other cold weather visitors are drawn here by the sanctuary of the rivers. During the summer months, the forest is full of nesting migrants, such as the Indian pita, the paradise fly-catchers and parakeet. Altogether Chitwan National Park is the paradise for jungle activities.

There are seven wildlife lodges and camps operating jungle lodges and resort within the Park. Most of these lodge offers elephant back Jungle Safari and excursions in the heart of the heart of the jungle for human recreation. But we Trekking Trail Nepal only offers Jeep Ride Jungle Safari, That we don't want to promote the Animal Cruelty.

It takes 5-6 hours by car or a 30 minute flight to reach Chitwan from Kathmandu. Visitors can also take river raft, driving from Kathmandu to Trisuli River or Seti Khola, spending three days on the river camping en-route.
